If your life’s work was a mural…
I’ve become a little bit obsessed with murals.
It started with the bears in Madrid (conveniently located by a cake shop); in Singapore my son Henry was exasperated by my endless fascination; in Christchurch, I was amazed - but also saddened - to see how murals had been used to hide some of the scars in the city caused by the devastation of the earthquake in 2011.
That it is someone’s job to create this magnificent wall art, reminded me of a quote by Gill Edwards in Living Magically…
“Our uniqueness is our gift to the world. No two people have the same qualities, vision, and experience and our life's work emerges from our own melting pot.”
Using their skills, talent, and flair these artists are turning boring blank walls into something colourful; amusing; historic; cultural, or sometimes just a little bit zany.
If your life’s work was a mural… what would emerge?
